Thanks to my friend Scott, I heard about the UBC Game On conference in just enough time to
register and get signed up for some workshops, so I spent the better part of the day listening to developers, designers, marketers, and composers talk about their craft, as well as network with established and aspiring professionals in the field.
Yes, it was a Saturday. Yes, life is busy. But events like these are so important. It was great being able to share what little nuggets of wisdom I have with students while also sitting at the feet of masters who have far more experience than I do. That, and I met some great people and built some hopefully long-lasting connections.
I should mention that this conference was entirely virtual this year (obviously), but also free to attend. Next time something like this enters your orbit, don’t let it pass you by.
