While music theory can be a bit...ethereal, there're still many benefits to having at least a rudimentary understanding of a lot of it. Especially if you're studying other people's music and you need the language to accurately dissect and catalog what you're hearing.
A colleague shared this with me the other day. A good bit is certainly review from my childhood, or things I've picked up in the past year as I've accelerated my understanding of writing music. But review never hurts. Nor does a teacher with a sense of humor. This doc has both, so I've spent a little time with it each day since he shared it. Let me know if you've found it helpful in any way. Even if it's just learning a rule so you better know how to break it.
